Oil Cleansing Method

The Oil Cleansing Method is a natural way to clean your skin using oil. I know it might seem a little crazy to clean your face with oil, especially if you have oily skin but trust me this really works. When you use the oil cleansing method, the clean oil removes and replaces the dirty oil that is present in you pores, resulting in clear and smooth skin..

According to acne.org
Oil dissolves oil. One of the most basic principals of chemistry is that “like dissolves like.” The best way to desolve a non-polar solvent like sebum/oil, is by using another non-polar solvent similar in composition: other oils. By using the right oils, you can cleanse your pores of dirt and bacteria naturally, gently and effectively, while replacing the dirty oil with beneficial ones extracted from natural botanicals, vegetables and fruit that heal, protect and nourish your skin. When done properly and consistently, the OCM can clear the skin from issues like oily skin, dry skin, sensitive skin, blackheads, whiteheads and other problems caused by mild to moderate acne–while leaving your skin healthy, balanced and properly moisturized.”

Oil Blend
One of the best oil blends that i have used thus far is a 50:50 mixture of castor oil and olive oil. Castor oil is great for removing impurities from the pores. Olive oil is an excellent moisturiser and a good skin nourisher.

I usually perform this procedure at night. It helps me to remove the day's makeup as well as any impurities in the pores. To perform this procedure
  • Thoroughly mix your oil and pour a generous portion of it into the palm of your hand and rub your hands together to warm the oil slightly.
  • Smooth the oil all over your face and begin massaging it into your pores by using a slow but firm circular motion. Do this for at least five minutes. You should take this time to relax.
  • After you have saturated your skin with the oil, take your washcloth and wet it with hot water. What you want is for the water to be warm enough so that it can open up your pores and remove the oil.
  • Place the washcloth on your face and keep it there until it is cool. Gently wipe the oil from your face and then rinse the washcloth in the water and place it on your face again until it cools. Repeat this process two or three more times taking care not to scrub your face, but to simply allow the hot washcloth to clean the oil away.
Although the oil cleansing method requires a few more stops than simply washing your face with cleanser there are several benefits to be gained from doing this procedure.
